The Pinnacle Team at RE/MAX Edge is committed to making homesofstatenisland.com usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Housing information should reach every person who wants it. We treat that as part of our obligation under fair housing law, not as an optional courtesy.


The standard we aim for

We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines are the widely accepted standard for making web content usable by people with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor disabilities.


Where we currently stand

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard. We would rather tell you that plainly than claim more than we can deliver.


Known limitations

These are the areas we know fall short. Each one has a way around it, and we will do that work for you:

- Property listing data. Listings on this site come from a third-party IDX service connected to the Multiple Listing Service. We do not control how that content is built, and parts of it may not meet the standard.

- Map-based search. Our map tools are difficult to use without a mouse and may not work well with a screen reader. Tell us which areas interest you and we will send listings directly, in a format that works for you.

- Photographs and virtual tours. Listing images come from many sources and often lack descriptive alternative text. We will describe any property to you in detail by phone or email.

- Documents. Some PDFs and downloadable materials may not be fully accessible. Ask and we will provide the same information another way.


What we do

- We check pages we build for keyboard navigation, color contrast, heading structure and descriptive link text.
- We raise accessibility problems with our website vendor as they are identified.
- We treat reported problems as priorities rather than backlog items.


If you have trouble using this site

Please don't work around it. Contact us and a person will help you directly. We can search for properties on your behalf, describe listings in detail, send information in a format that suits you, and answer anything the website cannot.

How we respond

We aim to answer accessibility questions and reports within five business days. If a fix will take longer than that, we will tell you what we are doing about it and get you the information you were looking for in the meantime.
